Santa Claus is already hard at work, and NORAD is keeping track of where that “right jolly old elf” is right this second and this second and this second (you get the idea).
When you have to deliver millions of gifts in a single night, every second counts.
Google is keeping busy trying to answer the question “where is Santa right now.” We’re struggling a bit with that one, too, since every second he’s in a different location.
So for Florida children, you have several more hours to get onto the nice list before you get “nestled all snug” in your beds.
Where is Santa right now?
This is changing every second but to give you an idea of where Santa is (all times Eastern):
- 10:53 a.m.: Phi Phi Islands, Thailand
- 10:36 a.m.: Padang, Indonesia
- 10:19 a.m.: Broome, Australia
- 10:08 a.m. over the South China Sea (east of Vietnam) near the Paracel Islands
- 9:53 a.m. Gangzhou, China
- 9:52 a.m. EDT: Hong Kong
How many gifts has Santa delivered so far?
As of 10:10 a.m., Santa has delivered 1,470,000,000 gifts. Yes, that’s more than a billion, and yes, we waited until it was an even number!
By 10:15 a.m., the number had topped 1,500,000,000.
By 10:35 a.m., it’s more than 1,615,000,000.
At 10:55 a.m., it was 1,725,000,000.
Want a math lesson over the holiday? (Yeah, didn’t think so, but you could figure out how many gifts are delivered every minute or second if you like to know that sort of thing.)
Where is Santa right now? How can you track Santa for live updates?

Santa has 24 hours on Christmas Eve, Dec. 24, to get around the world
You can travel around the world today for 24 hours, and it would still be Dec. 24. That’s because one world day on this date lasts for 24 hours and 0.4481 milliseconds, according to TimeandDate.com.
You just have to make sure to stay in the same world time zone, which explains Santa bouncing from Asia to Australia and starting just west of the International Date Line in the Pacific Ocean, which is between Alaska and Russia, and between Hawaii and New Zealand. For example, at 10:45 a.m. in Florida Tuesday, Dec. 24, it’s 10:45 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 25 in Tokyo, Japan.
