Gerwyn’s ear trouble
No, we’re not talking about the headphones.
Gerwyn Price famously wore oversized ear defenders to block out the boos a couple of years ago, before the PDC swiftly banned that look.
He won’t be wearing them in his match against Chris Dobey in a couple of hours – but he probably wishes he was.
The Welshman, who won the world title in 2021, has been battling an ear infection.
Price said: “Oh, it’s a nightmare, bud. Doing my head in. I’ve been taking antibiotics for a week and they are not working.
“Now, it feels like I have been in a swimming pool of water. It’s frustrating. I pop my ears and it feels fine.
“Two minutes later, I have to do it again. It’s hard work. I have had this problem for the last 6-7-8 years. I am used to it now.
“I’m supposed to see an Ear, Nose and Throat specialist, but it’s too busy, isn’t it? I miss so many appointments with the ENT.
“You end up having a tournament here and there. So, I end up playing darts.”
